Request a Request a Transcript of a Proceeding Recorded By A Court Reporter |
Electronic Court Recording (ECR) is the electronic recording of a court proceeding either through a digital or tape recording system rather than by a court reporter. To obtain a transcript of an ECR proceeding, please submit the transcript request form to Courtroom Technology/AV Services. The request and the recording will be forwarded to a commercial transcription service that will produce a transcript and certify it as an accurate rendering of the official electronic court recording. The transcriber will deliver the transcript to the ordering party. The transcript is not distributed through the court. The following Magistrate Judges use ECR for the majority of their civil proceedings:
The following Judges use ECR for civil proceedings on a more limited basis: In addition, criminal proceedings before Magistrate Judges in the Arraignment Courtroom are electronically recorded, with the exception of a guilty plea to a felony. It is the policy of the Court that a court reporter records a guilty plea in a criminal felony case. If a District Judge or Magistrate Judge is not listed above, then the matter was recorded by a court reporter, or not at all. Please be aware that for some proceedings a record may not be made, e.g. pretrial conferences. Contact the Courtroom Technology office for a transcript of an electronic court recording (ECR). However, if the proceeding was recorded by a court reporter, please refer to the Court Reporting page for instructions. Please be certain that the transcript request is presented to the correct office because the rate at which the transcription service charges is determined by the date the request is received. |
